Doug and Anna Petrie started the trailer business in 1972 with three Master Coach Travel Trailers. They built the first part of the building we are still in today, in 1973. Since then, 6 additions have been built onto the same structure. Niagara Trailers had 4 staff members, including Doug and Anna themselves.

Shortly after the building was completed, they brought another brand line up of trailers to their lot; Prowler, produced by Fleetwood of Canada, in Lindsay, Ontario. By the mid 1980’s other brand line-ups were introduced; Travelair from Strathroy, Ontario and Citation from Hensel, Ontario. Later in the 1980’s they started to sell park models manufactured by Northlander Industries from Exeter, Ontario. By this point the whole family, Doug Jr., Debbie and Johnny were working in the family business as it continued to grow at a rapid pace.

Niagara Trailers grew because of the excellent customer service and the commitment of the family to the RV lifestyle. With this commitment came the purchase of campgrounds along the years, such as Sherkston Beach in 1987, Grand River RV Resort in 1989 and Lighthouse RV Resort in 2006.

Doug Sr, the founder of Niagara Trailers also loved the outdoors, camping, hunting, fishing and driving his tractor. When he passed in 2002, John Petrie took over the day to day operation, following in his Dad’s footsteps. Continuing to provide the best products made in North America and service to back them up.

John Petrie, son of Niagara Trailers founders, has grown the business to what it is today. 400 plus trailers, 20 plus acres, 10 sales staff, amazing service team and an extra productive parts department.

Without the customer base we have built here, Niagara Trailers would not be what it is today. The relationship we build with our customers is none other than amazing. The loyalty they show us is the same as we show them in return. We carry a wide range of trailer manufactures, all within North America. Manufactures such as KZ-RV, Starcraft RV, Keystone RV, Forest River Inc & Northlander Industries.

With the growth of Niagara Trailers over the years, we’ve been able to maintain our sales lot with all the types and styles of trailers throughout the whole year. Our customers can visit us at any time of the year to find their dream trailer. And our sales staff is here to help them make their research and buying experience as easy and enjoyable as possible.
